In the latest report from the European Commission on Albania, published on October 30, 2024, the key role of the State Supreme Audit Institution (SAI) is highlighted. The report recommends the continuation of monitoring the implementation of SAI’s recommendations and increasing parliamentary scrutiny over state institutions to ensure the effective implementation of these recommendations.
SAI plays an important role in ensuring transparency and accountability in the management of public funds. Its recommendations are essential for improving practices and processes within institutions, thus enhancing efficiency and accountability.
Our policy document, “The Importance and Challenges of Implementing the Recommendations of the State Supreme Audit Institution in Albania,” aims to highlight the significance and role of SAI in this process. A deeper parliamentary review would contribute to greater support for the implementation of SAI’s recommendations, while also increasing the accountability of institutions and improving services for citizens.
