The adoption of universal Sustainable Development Goals at the September UN summit in New York by all member states gave a great worldwide push to developing strategic plans to achieve these objectives. EU policy agenda is also pursuing these issues among the EU Member States and the accession countries. Albania as a candidate country will have to shape its mechanisms for development cooperation and humanitarian aid to adopt European acquis concerning the EU’s external relations and responsibility for global development. As in the past in Central Europe, the involvement of CSOs in this process will be essential.
On September 29th and 30th 2016, at the premises of the Human Rights House Zagreb, the regional workshop “Global Active Citizenship in Europe” was organized by CROSOL in framework of the project “Western Balkan CSOs for Global Development” – implemented in cooperation with the Austrian organization Horizont 3000, Pontis Foundation, IDM Albania and other relevant actors with the aim of mainstreaming the development agenda in the Western Balkans.
The workshop’s objective was to acquaint and train senior representatives and youth leaders and activists on the policy framework and practice in global development education issues.
Participants were exposed to various advocacy strategies to implement when working with various institutions responsible for global education in their countries. Networking and sharing of experiences was also an important aspect of the training.
The two-day workshop gathered together 25 participants from the region.
