Quality Policy – Registration of Agricultural and Food Local Products

Training – 17 October2012 – Peshkopi

Institute for Democracy and Mediation organised the workshop “Quality policy – registration of agricultural and food products” in Peshkopi on 17 October 2012. Taking into consideration that branding of local products consitutes one of the essential factors for the economic and rural empowerement of the local population in the targeted area of Diber, the workshop aimed to  establish links and relations between stakeholders, key partners and beneficiaries.

34 participants participated actively in the workshop representing a variety of local stakeholders and institutions such as local farmers and producers, representatives of Dibra Regional Council, specialists of rural extension from the targeted communes and civil society organizations.

This workshop was organised in the framework of the project “Branding: Paving the Path for Promoting and Protecting Local Products in the Cross-Border Region”, which aims to contribute significantly in the rural economic development of the cross-border area among Albania and FYROM. Objectives and expected results were introduced to the participants by the project team. The acquired information on the legal mechanisms at European and national level as well as the legal registration process of the local products will contribute to the branding and protection of their unique products.

 

The project is funded by the EU Delegation to Albania, Cross-Border Cooperation Programme Albania-FYROM.

On the Albanian side, it is being implemented by Institute for Democracy and Mediation in partnership with Argitra Vizion as a local partner, while on the Macedonian border it is being implemented by ALKA – Center for Sustainable Development and their local partners.
