National Conference: Challenges to Gender Diversity in Albanian State Police

Democracy and Mediation) in partnership with Albanian State Police and in cooperation and support of DCAF (Geneva Center for the Democratic Control of Armed Forces) and Friedrich Ebert Foundation organized on October 22, 2010, the National Conference “Challenges to Gender Diversity in Albanian State Police”.

The objective of this conference was to evaluate the state of affairs as regards gender diversity in the Albanian State Police, improve information through disseminating European Best practices, and discuss future development in this perspective by addressing challenges in order to develop an applicable National Strategy to Gender Diversity of the Albanian State Police. IDM presented the research studies related to “Measuring Albanian State Police’s Attitude and Opinion on Women’s Participation in the Police”, “Surveying public opinion and attitudes regarding women in police”, as well as “Police Academy Curriculum Assessment under the Gender Perspective”.

The study findings opened the floor for discussions from the participants of the conference.
