Building Media Capacity to Comprehensive Understanding and Reporting on Security Sector Reform and Governance in Albania

Institute for Democracy and Mediation, organized on February 1st 2012, the first meeting with the journalists from print and electronic media, in the framework of the project “Building Media Capacity to Comprehensive Understanding and Reporting on Security Sector Reform and Governance in Albania”.

14 journalists from the main media outlets, selected to be part of this training, attended the meeting which was designed as a round table to introduce the journalists with the format and the content of the training program that  would be extended during the whole year.

Senior researcher Arjan Dyrmishi provided a brief presentation for the participants about the key actors and the most important concepts of the security sector reform, provoking lively discussions and feedback from the experienced journalists and they practices on reporting on the security sector.

The journalists representing different mainstream media outlets in Albania reflected their opinions in key issues surrounding the security sector reform, reflecting a plurality of ideas and views.

 This event was part of the first module of the program which will provide the necessary knowledge for reporting on the specific security actors: the military, the police and law enforcement agencies, the intelligence services.
