Within this project, IDM has developed several activities to inform and support civil society actors throughout the country for the advancement of local initiatives in the parliament.
This activity will bring together members of the Parliamentary Committee for Productive Activities, Trade, and the Environment, the Subcommittee for Sustainable Development, the Green Group, representatives of civil society, and activists to discuss the implementation of the environmental obligations of enterprises engaged in mining activity and good practices for the contribution of these enterprises to the community. This hearing will serve to present the recommendations of interest groups regarding the prevention of environmental damage, transparency and prior information of residents, and monitoring of the implementation of the legislation. During the public hearing, experts engaged by IDM will present the issues for discussion, based on this material. The presentation will be followed by an open discussion with local organizations that have raised concerns and other interested parties.
