Trainings – June 2012 – Tirana & Berat

IDM carried out two regional workshops on “The Revitalization and re-orientation of civil society in rural areas” on the 11th June 2012 in Tirana and on the 15th of June in Berat. This activity was held in the frame of the project “Empowering civil society in rural and remote areas to promote good governance and development” (ECSRA). It gathered representatives of civil society, representatives of local government, as well as other actors engaged in the development and advancement of civil society generally, in particular the ones in rural areas of Elbasan, Lezha, Berat and Gjirokastra.

The aim of this activity was to discuss the findings of the study “Civil Society in rural and remote areas in Albania” as well as to make concrete steps to be taken to revitalize and re-orient civil society in these areas. Furthermore, during the two regional workshops the participants focused more on the main areas and potentials for cooperation in the future. A stronger emphasis was put on the cooperation among each other of civil society organizations in rural/remote areas, as well as with the local government through the development of networks or joint initiatives.

Another important aspect of these workshops was the information session on the application procedures for “The Fair of ideas” to be held on 13th of July 2012. The participants were provided with all relevant information on the format application, necessary documentation etc.
