This policy brief addresses the effects of tax evasion and fraud, being just a part hidden economic activities, based on the survey carried out in the respective Balkan countries: Albania, Macedonia and Kosovo. The policies targeting this phenomena increase government revenues, but also increase the fairness of the tax system, and improve tax acceptance and trust among its citizens and businesses, promote human rights, and enable appropriate protection to the most vulnerable in our societies.
