Monitoring of Parliamentary Committees

Hotel Rogner – 12 October 2012
The Institute for Democracy and Mediation presented today at a Press-conference the findings of the monitoring of Parliamentary Committees of European Integration (PCEI) and of National Security (PCNS) covering January – July 2012 period. The findings of the Monitoring Brief suggest that despite certain improvements observed in the activity of both committees there is still space for further consolidation of their performance.

IDM is monitoring both parliamentary committees for the second consecutive year through direct observations at committees’ meetings and analysis of parliamentary documents by focusing particularly on issues related to participation and involvement in debates at committees’ meetings of MPs and representatives of line ministries, compliance with formal procedures and Parliament’s Regulation, consultations with interest groups etc. The reports are to be followed by a more comprehensive annual monitoring report covering committees’ activity through 2012.
