Branding of Regional Products – Transfer of EU Know-how and Experiences

Training; 25 – 26 March 2013; Peshkopi 

Institute for Democracy and Mediation in partnership with Agritra Vizion organised the training  “Branding of Regional Products – Transfer of EU Knowhow and Experiences” in Peshkopi on 25-26 March 2013 in the framework of the project “Branding: Paving the Path for Promoting and Protecting Local Products in the Cross-Border Region”.

Enea Hoti, Project Manager; Mr. Naim Gazidede, Head of the Regional Council of Dibra; Mr. Jonuz Hoxha Director of the Agriculture Directorate in Dibra Region and Mr. Maksim Hajrullaj, Director of the National Food Authority in Dibra welcomed the participants and offered their institutional support to the achievement of project objectives. 40 participants took part in the training representing a variety of local stakeholders and institutions such as local farmers and producers, representatives of Dibra Regional Council, specialists of rural extension from the targeted communes and civil society organizations.

This training was facilitated by the Polish Expert Mr. Artur Nowicki and Albanian expert Mr. Egest Gjokuta, who provided European and Polish best practices in regional branding. Participants acquired information on the European legal framework for protection of trademarks, the European process of registration and case studies from the Polish successful experience and also Albanian legal background in comparison with EU experiences. Participants were specifically interested to the case studies, which served as food for thought for similar projects in Dibra region.

The training was concluding with designing Action Plans and identifying potential project proposals for the branding and promotion of local/regional products in Dibra.
