Call for Applications: Project Manager

The Institute for Democracy and Mediation (IDM) is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Project Manager/Researcher to join our team. This role focuses on advancing democratic governance, supporting Albania’s EU accession priorities, and fostering civil society engagement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage projects related to governance, EU accession and growth plan.
  • Coordinate with governmental institutions, civil society actors, and international partners.
  • Monitor and report on project progress, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to objectives.
  • Contribute to research, policy analysis, and advocacy initiatives aligned with Albania’s EU integration process.

Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • University degree in Political Science, Public Administration, Law, International Relations, or related fields.
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in governance, democratic reform, EU integration, or civic space sectors.
  • Strong understanding of Albania’s EU accession process, including key priorities in parliamentary reform, democratic institutions, and public administration.
  • Proven experience in project management, including planning, implementation, and reporting.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in Albanian and English.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic and multi-stakeholder environment.

What IDM can offer:

We offer full-time employment for one year. The contract includes a probationary period of three months and is renewable every year.  The salary will be in accordance with your previous experience as well as the IDM salary scale.

Call for Applications: Project Officer

 

Established in Tirana in 1999, the Institute for Democracy and Mediation (IDM) is dedicated to consolidating participatory governance and democratic institutions, EU integration processes, civil society development, regional cooperation, and security through independent research, capacity building, and engagement of societal players. IDM generates knowledge and expertise for inclusive policy making, and evidence-based alternatives to bolster democracy and sustainable development.

Since 2017, IDM has successfully implemented the project “School as Community Center (SCC) – A national multi-stakeholder approach for community resilience in Albania”. This project works on strengthening the community resilience and preventing any form of violent extremism by empowering youth and local educational institutions. The multi-stakeholder SCC approach enhances cooperation among local stakeholders for joint decision-making and increase youth activism.

Main responsibilities:

· Supports the overall planning and implementation of the project activities under the guidance of the project manager.

· Prepare and execute the project’s communication and visibility plan in coordination with the project team.

· Manage the project’s website and social media by creating and promoting video, audio, and photo materials from all activities.

· Collaborate closely with local government units to promote Youth Councils, engage youth in local community initiatives, and design municipal resilience plans.

· Facilitate stakeholder meetings and workshops to ensure effective communication and collaboration among all parties involved.

· Organize and support capacity-building activities for various project target groups.

· Ensure timely delivery of work at the highest standards.

Required qualifications:

· Master’s degree in social sciences, political science, international affairs, journalism, or related fields.

· Minimum 3 years of demonstrated experience in relevant working experience.

· Demonstrated working experience in youth activism and community building.

· Excellent communication, writing and proofreading skills in Albanian and English (drafting reports, emails, briefs).

· Experience in organizing training and events with youth, and other stakeholders.

· Proven computer literacy skills and graphic design knowledge.

· Attention to details and ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

We offer full-time employment for 1 year. The contract is renewable. The salary will be based on your previous experience as well as the IDM salary scale.

Internship Opportunities

The aim of the Internship Programme is to provide an opportunity for highly skilled and motivated students from diverse backgrounds to work on projects and enhance their analytical skills in the main focus areas of the Institute.

IDM accepts internship applications on an ongoing basis from students enrolled in Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. programmes. 

The internship is unpaid and the duration can be up to three months. 
IDM interns will provide support to the organization’s activities and research, thus obtaining hands-on experience in the field of think-tank work, as well as gaining valuable knowledge in specific areas.
