Branding: Paving the Path for Promoting and Protecting Local Products in the Cross-Border Region

Project Description: 

This project is financed by the European Union in the framework of the Cross-Border Cooperation Programme Albania-FYROM 2007-2013, Instrument for Pre-Accession (IPA), Component II and is implemetated at both sides of the border in the neighbouring countries Albania and FYROM. On the Albanian side, the project is implemented by the Institute of Democracy and Mediation (IDM) and Agritra Vizion Center, while in the Macedonian side the project is implemented by the Center for Sustainable Development – ALKA and the Youth Ecological Center Biser-Rostuse.

Objektiva Specifikë:

  1. Implemented planning and management framework for the process of branding and preserving local products in the CBC regions
  2. Enhanced capacities of the target CBC regions to manage the process of product branding
  3. Established cross-border cooperation and coordination of CBC channels related to promotion of regional products

Project Results:

  • Developed cooperation and experience exchanged between the two CBC regions related to product branding
  • Enhanced coordination for applied mechanisms and planning procedures for branding products
  • Increased awareness on EU and national regulations, local potentials and resources to be utilised for initiating products branding
  • Enhanced capacities, performance and “know-how” of the concerned stockholders on regional branding and respective CBC cooperation
  • Established joint local actions on model initiatives supporting products branding

Project Activities:

  • Prepare and conduct initial meetings and actions and develop operational plan.
  • Prepare and conduct workshops; Develop and disseminate ‘one-stop guide’ and promotional materials.
  • Conduct Program of two separate training in CBC Regions of fYRo Macedonia and Albania respectively.
  • Prepare and conduct workshop for experiences’ exchange.
  • Perform a joint local actions on model initiatives, supporting local products branding

  • Macedonia:  Polog Region, Municipalities – Gostivar and Mavrovo/Rostuse
  • Albania:  Dibra Region- Communes of Maqellare, Melan, Tomin, Kastriot, Sllove, Kala e Dodes
