22 July 2022
Hotel Rogner, Tirana
The Constitutional Court, in cooperation with the Institute for Democracy and Mediation, organize on July 22, 2022, a consultative meeting on the project for the Code of Ethics for the Constitutional Court.
The Code of Ethics for the Constitutional Court (CC) of the Republic of Albania is an internal administrative document for the purpose of proper regulation of the activity of the institution. This draft-document was drafted in collaboration with experts from the Institute for Democracy and Mediation (IDM), based on the models and practices of the Constitutional Courts of the European Union Member States and those of the region.
The purpose of the Code of Ethics is to strengthen and increase public confidence in the independence and impartiality of the Constitutional Court, in the administration of justice based on the principles of legality and professionalism of its members.
This consultative meeting will bring together, along with the current members of the Constitutional Court, former members of the Court and lawyers engaged in representing various subjects at this institution, in order to discuss and exchange views on the content of Code of Ethics and public expectations.
In the framework of the very good institutional cooperation, showcased by the re-signing of a Memorandum of Cooperation between the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Albania and the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Kosovo, an important part of this meeting will be the participation of honoured representatives – President and members of the Constitutional Court of Kosovo. The sharing of experiences in the development of this important instrument of ethics aims not only to further strengthen this cooperation, but also to consolidate and improve these documents of the respective constitutional courts.
This consultation meeting takes place in the framework of the project “Strengthening integrity for the improvement of public services“, implemented by the Institute for Democracy and Mediation, with the support of the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA).[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row el_class=”appl-contant”][vc_column icons_position=”left”][/vc_column][/vc_row]
