After 25 years, IDM is celebrating its anniversary for the first time, and it is both an honor and a true pleasure to be here with you to mark this significant milestone. Your presence today reflects the shared commitment to the values that have united us throughout our collaboration over the past quarter-century. For us, these partnerships are a valuable asset that continues to grow and strengthen IDM.

The 25-year journey of IDM is a moment of reflection, to appreciate our achievements, to examine the impact we have had, and to deepen our understanding of the values that have guided our mission throughout these years.

Twenty-five years ago, IDM was founded as a commitment to public responsibility, with the goal of mediating in the political sphere and building bridges that foster dialogue and cooperation for the common good. From the outset, IDM has upheld a strong stance of political independence and integrity, which remain among our core principles.

In its work, IDM has been guided by a clear and consistent vision of a more just and democratic society, where the public interest is at the heart of every effort and reform. Driven by an unwavering dedication to a citizen-centered approach, IDM has worked tirelessly to improve public policies, always grounded in solid evidence, merit, and professionalism. Through this, we strive to contribute to a dynamic and functioning democracy, where policymaking meets the needs of the country and where citizens feel empowered and engaged.

We extend our sincere gratitude to the state institutions at all levels and branches of government – the Parliament, the Executive, and the Judiciary – as well as the constitutional bodies that play a key role in strengthening our state. At the local level, we have built successful partnerships with nearly all of the country’s municipalities. The foundation of this cooperation remains mutual trust and common goals.

Our progress toward fulfilling our mission would not have been possible without the support and collaboration of numerous donors, including the U.S. Government, the European Union, and many other governments such as Sweden, Norway, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, the Netherlands, and many others who have supported us over the years. The support of our international partners has been

instrumental in advancing both our agenda and that of Albanian society, and we are grateful for their continued trust.

A heartfelt acknowledgment also goes to all the other actors within the civic space. IDM has found valuable partners in you and has worked tirelessly to amplify your voice and contributions – colleagues from civil society, and partners from the academia and the media.

Today, IDM stands as a result of the skills, dedication, and relentless efforts of its staff and associates, as well as a reflection of the country’s developmental priorities over the years. IDM is a group united in thought and purpose, working together to build not only the present but also the future of the organization. This journey has been more than just a professional endeavor, it has been a true learning experience for each of us, a rich process of growth and development that has prepared us for the challenges that lie ahead. Thank you to all those who have gathered once again to celebrate this milestone.

25 years ago, we did not know what this journey would bring. Neither then nor today can we fully predict what the future holds. However, what we can say with certainty is that this journey has strengthened us, helped us have a clearer vision, and given us the confidence needed to keep moving forward. We look to the future with hope, optimism, and ambition, always challenging the times and ourselves.
