Europeanization beyond process
23 April 2019, (09:00 – 12:30hrs) Hotel Tirana International (Balsha Room)
Civil Society and think tanks play an important role in the EU accession process by providing knowhow to national players and factual information on Albania’s progress. Albanian think tanks and other civil society players exchange regularly with EU bodies, member states’ institutions and other interested stakeholders. Nevertheless, such exchange remains limited within the EU enlargement process often leaving aside important EU relevant debates and the dynamics of national priorities in member states. Consequently, such limitation means that EU relevant debates beyond the enlargement discourse very rarely reach Albanian audiences through the experience of exchange of local think tanks with their peers in EU.
The purpose of the Policy Forum “Europeanization beyond process” is to initiate a new dimension of peer exchange between think tanks through a series of debates bringing the knowhow and perspective of renewed think tanks in EU. The initiative will encourage a learning process for Albanian stakeholders on a diverse range of EU topics such as EU reform, the future of Euro-zone, rule of law and backsliding of democracy, BREXIT, migration, European elections, trade, role of EU in the world and other EU relevant issues. Ultimately, the process will lead to a more informed understanding on these issues themselves as well as on how they will affect the WB region and the enlargement process in the coming years.
IDM is pleased to invite you to participate at this first event of the series of “Europeanization beyond process” Policy Forums on April 23rd, 2019 featuring key speakers from EU think tanks: the Center for European Policy Studies – CEPS Brussels, European Stability Initiative – ESI Berlin and the European Policy Center – EPC Brussels.
This event is supported by the Open Society Initiative for Europe – OSIFE.
