Relations of Albania with the EU 1992 – 2007

Project Description: This study was prepared under the regional project “Integration perspectives and synergic effects of European transformation in the countries targeted by EU enlargement and neighborhood policies”. The Center for EU Enlargement Studies (CEUENS) at the Central European University in Budapest (Hungary) assigned IDM the task to prepare an
analysis of the Albania’s relations with the European Union and the overall progress of the country’s EU integration process. The study offers an assessment of the key development of the EU integration process since the early 1990s up to date, with special emphasis on – Institutional Structure of EU-Relations; Contractual and Political Relations with the EU; Economic Relations; Approximation of Legislation; EU conditionality. The research also aims to draw conclusions regarding the achievement of systematic change and European integration perspectives of Albania.
