Civil Society Development represents one of IDM’s “traditional” areas of focus under which the Institute has delivered studies, assessments and reports, capacity building, advice and other assistance for civic stakeholders in Albania and also in the Western Balkan region.
Focused on empowering civil society and promoting civic participation in decision-making at the national and local level, IDM works towards meeting the following objectives:
- Promoting civil dialogue and strengthening coordination between civil society organizations and state stakeholders for influencing public policies;
- Advocating with state stakeholders for fostering an enabling environment for civil society development;
- Increasing civil society capacities through capacity-building and financial support, especially of small and grassroots organizations;
- Conducting research related to the role of CSOs in Albania and monitoring CS development trends.
